George Motier Bibb letter
Description
Letter from George Motier Bibb in Washington, DC to an unidentified recipient, concerning suit "depending," in circuit court of US for the Kentucky district against the securities of Peter G. Vorrhies, former paymaster, January 16'15, disbanded '17. Sen Bibb, as one of the sureties for Voorhies' bond in 1812 or 1813 and again in 1817. Bibb wishes it made clear if Voorhies' service was continuous of he received re-appointment in 1817. Requests copy of letter or general order by Gen. D. Parker, May 17, 1815 by order of the Secreatry of War, notifying paymasters that they were out of office and should settle accounts. This technicality seems important to Bibb in defence of his role as surety for Voorhies' bond.
