Letter from Daniel Webster in Washington, DC to Lady Ashburton in which he comments on the arrival of Lord Ashburton, envoy from Great Britain. Webster mentions that Ashburton has taken a house next to his own and anticipates the diplomatic work ahead between him and Ashburton. Their work resulted in the Treaty of Washington (1842), popularly known as the Webster-Ashburton Treaty. Webster reminisces about a previous trip to England as well.
