Description
The Pilobolus Dance Theatre was created from a class project in a beginner’s modern dance class at Dartmouth College in 1971. It has evolved into a world-renowned and highly respected modern dance theater that includes an administrative arm, two dance groups, and an educational institute. Included in the records are: recordings of performances, including rehearsals and interviews in various formats; business records and correspondence; and, playbills, pictures, and memorabilia. The records document how Pilobolus Dance Company was formed, how it has artistically and professionally evolved since its inception, and how it has impacted the state of modern dance.

Items of note in the records include: the 1984 choreography journals of Robby Barnett; posters advertising the groups performances over the years; playbills, programs, and memorabilia; and, photographs. Also included are many video recordings of performances and rehearsals.
The Records of the Pilobolus Dance Company were given to Dartmouth College in January 2005.
