Dartmouth College. Public Affairs Group

Biography

The Public Affairs Group was established in 1989 as a means to develop communications programs and policies, to address and deal with controversies, and provide communication among administrators and offices responsible for dealing with key constituencies. Around 1992, the group changed its name to the Committee on Public Affairs. Chaired initially by Provost John Strohbein, and subsequently by Cary Clark, College Counsel and Director of External Relations, the membership was drawn from major administrative units of the College, including the offices of Dean of Faculty, Dean of the College, Admissions, Development, Public Affairs, Alumni Relations, Equal Opportunity, News Service and the Tuck School. In 1997, the Committee was discontinued, with its major functions being undertaken by the Director of Public Affairs.
