Biography

Dartmouth College Films was formed ca. 1937 to oversee the circulation of films for instructional purposes in Dartmouth classrooms, and to create and distribute films about the College for admissions and alumni relations use. The Office of Instructional Services and Educational Research (OISER) was established in the fall of 1974 and took on the administration of all instructional media services, including Dartmouth College Films.

Abstract

Dartmouth College Films was formed to oversee the circulation of films for instructional purposes in Dartmouth classrooms, and to create and distribute films about the College for admissions and alumni relations use. The collection includes films, primarily in 16 mm format, by and about Dartmouth College, and its students and alumni, as well as filmstrips and photographic prints.

Some films in the collection date from after the dissolution of Dartmouth College Films as a department, when oversight passed to the Office of Instruction and Educational Research....
