Biography

The auxiliary ketch (a sailing craft with two masts) "Albert" was owned by the Arctic Gold Exploration Syndicate and was under the command of Captain Henry Toke when it sailed from Petershead, Scotland to Albert Harbour, Baffin Island on two separate occasions.

Scope and Contents The collection contains two logbooks of the auxiliary ketch "Albert." The first logbook (photocopy) is an account of a voyage from Petershead, Scotland to Baffin Island on July 6, 1914 to October 27, 1914. The log was kept by engineer John Mackindo and includes comments on the functioning of the engines and some calculations, as well as a day-to-day account of the journey.
