Logbooks of the ketch "Albert"
The collection contains two logbooks of the auxiliary ketch "Albert." The first logbook (photocopy) is an account of a voyage from Petershead, Scotland to Baffin Island on July 6, 1914 to October 27, 1914. The log was kept by engineer John Mackindo and includes comments on the functioning of the engines and some calculations, as well as a day-to-day account of the journey. The second logbook (typescript copy) chronicles another voyage from Petershead, Scotland to Baffin Island from June 10 to September 10, 1920 and was kept by engineer Dines. This log is a personal narrative of events on land and aboard ship. The "Albert" was owned by the Arctic Gold Exploration Syndicate and commanded by Captain Henry Toke Munn.
