Wilcox Family

 

Biography

Leonard Wilcox was born on January 29, 1799, in Hanover, New Hampshire. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1817, after which he studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1820. Wilcox practiced law in Orford, NH. From 1828 to 1834, he was a member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives and from 1838-1840, a judge of the New Hampshire Superior Court. In addition, Wilcox served as a bank commissioner from 1838-1842, and was elected to the United States Senate in 1842. Wilcox died on June 18, 1850.

Leonard Wilcox was married to Almira Morey, who was the daughter of Samuel Morey and Mary Mann, daughter of Nathaniel Man.

George Wilcox was the son of Leonard Wilcox. He was born on November 2, 1839, in Orford, NH. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1860. After graduation he studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1862. He died on March 20, 1907, in Summit, New Jersey.
