Domingo del Monte (August 4, 1804 — November 4, 1853) was a writer, lawyer, arts patron, and literary critic, known primarily for contributing to Cuban literature and advocating for public education throughout the country.

Scope and Contents
Three-page letter from Domingo Del Monte y Aponte in Madrid to George Ticknor in which he acknowledges receipt of a copy of Ticknor's "History of Spanish Literature." Del Monte has not yet written a review of said work, awaiting a Spanish translation by Gayangos. There is the threat of Garibaldi's joining forces against Spain on behalf of the Cuban insurrection.
