Biography

Frederick W. Maurer was the only American survivor of the Canadian Arctic Expedition of 1913-1916. However, he perished on Wrangel Island with E. Lorne Knight, Milton Galle and Allan Crawford during a failed expedition, organized and financed by VilhjalmurStefansson, to colonize the island where he and 10 other survivors of the Canadian Arctic Expedition had lived from January to September 1914.
