John Gazley was born on April 6, 1895 in Patterson, NY. He graduated in 1917 with an AB from Amherst College. He was hired by Dartmouth College as a member of the History Department in 1923. He served as department chairman and was active in town affairs. He retired as Professor of History Emeritus in 1966. He died in 1991 in Hanover, NH.

Scope and Contents The oral history interview of John Gazley is comprised of two audiocassette recordings and a tape log of the recordings. The interview was conducted by Arthur Wilson on Oct. 15, 1974 in Hanover, NH. The entire interview runs for approximately one and a half hours.
