Biography

John Gazley was born on April 6, 1895 in Patterson, NY. He graduated in 1917 with an AB from Amherst College. He was hired by Dartmouth College as a member of the History Department in 1923. He served as department chairman and was active in town affairs. He retired as Professor of History Emeritus in 1966. He died in 1991 in Hanover, NH.

Abstract

John G. Gazley (1895-1991), professor of history at Dartmouth College. The collection contains teaching materials, correspondence and research material documenting his career as a professor. Some material, including galley proofs related to his book "The Life of Arthur Young, 1741-1820" are also included.
