Pressey, William Benfield, 1894-1982

 

Biography

W. Benfield Pressey was born on June 23, 1894 in Ashton, RI. He graduated from Trinity College in 1915 and was hired by Dartmouth College as a member of the English Department in 1919. He served as chairman of the department from 1935-1938 and in 1961 retired as the Willard Professor of Rhetoric and Oratory Emeritus. W. Benfield Pressey died in Hanover, NH in 1982.
