Biography
Edward Hyde Cox (1914-1998). Cox attended the Lenox School, the New Preparatory School and Harvard University, graduating in 1938. Inheriting the bulk of his grandfather's sizable Philadelphia estate Cox moved to "Crow Island" near Manchester, MA in 1945. He served for 22 years as the President of the Cape Ann Historical Association. Through a chance meeting with poet Robert Frost in Key West, Florida they became close friends till the end of Frost's life. Cox was also a friend and patron of painter Andrew Wyeth. Cox was a benefactor to Dartmouth College, the Cape Ann Historical Association and the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
