Biography
Roswell Tenney was born on November 6, 1796 in Hanover, New Hampshire. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1822, after which he studied divinity in Virginia. He became a Presbyterian clergyman and died on August 7, 1866 in Ohio.

Abstract
Diary of Roswell Tenney (1796-1866) beginning in 1822 while he was still a student at Dartmouth College. The diary entries of that year recount primarily his thoughts on the material covered in his classes with a focus on religious subjects and biblical quotes. Later entries describe his travels to find employment, struggles with his faith and studying divinity. The diary also contains sermons written by Tenney.
