Biography

Oliver Ashley was one of the son of one of the proprietors of the town of Claremont, and one of the early settlers. He was Captain of the Claremont company at Bennington, and established Ashley's Ferry in 1784.

Bellows asks Ashley yo raise as many as possible in his district and send the to No. 4. If Ashley cannot get men to enlist for three years, take some for eight months if the town will provide substitutes.
