Description

Contains research materials for McGrath's book "The Art of the White Mountains of New Hampshire," including photographs, negatives, slides and photocopies of paintings and sketches depicting New England landscapes, primarily White Mountains, Franconia Notch in New Hampshire, Mt. Holyoke in Massachusetts, Oxbow and the Connecticut River near Northampton, Vermont. Some of the artists covered included Paul Sample, Edward Bierstadt, Thomas Cole, Winslow Homer, Georges Loring Brown and Edward Hill. Correspondence with galleries and museums pertaining to the exhibition and acquisition of the photographs, as well as photocopies of articles and magazines, catalogues and notes by McGrath are also included.
