Vietnam Photograph 25, 1968

 Item, Box: 1
Part of Iconography 1753: Stephen Landa Vietnam slides

Description

Location: Firebase, Ashau Valley, South Vietnam

Scope and Contents

155 Howitzers of ARVN 34th Artillery. Guns and people airlifted into the position. Very typical. Advance landing party first who blow trees enough to bring in a bull dozer that would clear the hilltop to allow the guns to come in. Then dig in and set up the position to provide supporting fire as needed. Note projectiles and powder tins under cover. The battalion had very fine artillerymen who were well respected by Americans we operated with. We frequently fired for Americans too.
