Description

The collection contains 125 slides (35mm) taken during Stephen Landa's service in Vietnam. Landa served from 1968 and 1969 in I Corps, based north of the city of Hue. He was assigned as an advisor to a Vietnamese artillery battalion. The corps operated from the DMZ to north of Da Nang, with extensive operations in the Ashau Valley and operated jointly with the 101st Airborne to include what has become known as Hamburger Hill. The photos mostly show everyday living situations for the soldiers. They also include some images of weaponry and combat, and some of tombs and statues. American and Vietnamese soldiers as well as Vietnamese civilians are also depicted. Item-level descriptions and locations were provided by Landa.
