Douglas V. Coonrad, Class of 1967. Oral history interview documenting his college experience, including participation in the Dartmouth Outing Club (DOC) (specifically climbing) and the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC); flight training and his time on an air base in Da Nang, Vietnam; his service in the Philippines; and the effect of the war after returning to the United States. Specifically, Coonrad discusses his job as a lawyer and community member, dealings with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), and as a post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) counselor. He shares his perspective on leadership and government throughout and following his service.
