Bhavsar Map Collection
Description
The Bhavsar Map Collection contains mostly printed maps in color, published as individual maps or as sheets detached from atlases. The majority of the maps were printed in Germany and in the Netherlands predominately during the seventeenth century through the eighteenth century. The maps represent various regions in Europe, primarily Germany and the Netherland, but also France, Belgium, Denmark, Austria, Luxembourg, and the Czech Republic. Some maps focus on military themes such as fortifications or battle siege plans. Also included are several manuscript maps, mostly of Germany, and manuscript pictures and pictorial prints of miscellaneous cartography-related items such as globes and celestial designs as well as man-made structures.
