Description
The Arctic sketches of Jefferson Brown contain thirty sketches of the Arctic regions prepared by Brown when he was assistant engineer on the USS "Alliance" while on a cruise in search of the "Jeannette" in 1881. Includes copies of service records, description and attribution of the sketches, and a copy of the relevant issues of the journal "Our continent" in which the sketches were published.
