Daniel Webster letter
Item: 1
Identifier: Mss 838129

Description
Three-page letter from Daniel Webster in Washington to Benjamin Douglas Silliman, telling him that he is of the opinion that the anti-slavery feeling is growing stronger every day. His policy is not to yield the substantial truth for the sake of conciliating those whom we can never conciliate, at the expense of the loss of friendship of the good men who are interested in the anti-slavery cause.
