Description

The papers of James Laws contain his diary, dated May 31-Sept. 5, 1855, in which he describes his experiences and observations as a member of the Harstene Relief Expedition in search of Dr. Elisha Kent Kane on board the ship "Release." Also includes some reports for the "Arctic," companion ship of the "Release," as well as some correspondence concerning Dr. Laws' appointment to the "Release," some of his Navy commissions and newspaper clippings.
