Description

The papers of John Munro contain a diary, covering the period March 16-Sept. 11, 1914, in which John Munro describes his experiences as a survivor of the wreck of the "Karluk" stranded on Wrangel Island. Collection also includes two letters from R. A. Bartlett, captain of the "Karluk," to Munro and a list of supplies. One letter states that Munro will be in charge of the camp on Wrangel Island while Bartlett leaves the island in an attempt to get word of the shipwreck to the authorities. A copy of Munro's 1909 notebook is also included.
