Description
The papers of William S. Carter contain family and business correspondence, diaries as well as financial documents and notebooks, documenting Carter's professional life as postmaster of Quechee, and his involvement with the A.G. Dewey Woolen Company. His civic involvement in the towns of Quechee and Hartford, Vermont is also documented. Other family member represented in this collection are Mary E. Carter, Louise M. Carter, William Carter and Thomas C. Carter. Of note are the papers related to his work as a Civil War recruiter and sutler.
