Description
A travel diary of an unidentified author hailing from Portsmouth, NH. The writer leaves Portsmouth on August 9, 1812, and travels overland to Boston, Hartford, New Haven, New York, and Philadelphia. He comments on the landscape and his travel, particularly while in Philadelphia. He departs Newcastle, Delaware, on August 21. The diary recounts his experience of a large storm at sea before his arrival at Ilfracombe in the southwest of England.
