George H. Richardson Surveying collection
Description
The George H. Richardson surveying collection contains field notebooks, deeds, warranties and land descriptions, documenting the surveying activities of George H. Richardson, his father William I. Richardson, Ray T. Gile, Chester Abbott and Percy E. Smith. Working primarily in Coos and Grafton County in New Hampshire, these surveyors contributed to the more than 3000 survey plat maps and profiles of properties, including properties in the White Mountains such as the Mt. Washington Observatory and the Mt. Pleasant Hotel, which are at the core of this collection. Towns surveyed include Littleton, Lisbon, Franconia, Carroll, Dalton, Haverhill, Sugar Hill and Bethlehem. Papers related to George Richardson's son Roger's naval career and material on John Wilcox Brown's 1974 campaign for NH state senator are also included.
