Description
The collection contains papers relating to the painting "Oliver Wiswell" by Grant Wood, used as the illustration for the book jacket of the novel by Kenneth Roberts. Includes correspondence exchanged between Roberts and Wood concerning the painting, the sale of the painting at auction in 1967 and the interest in the painting by Dartmouth College Library. The painting was bequeathed to the College by Eileen Barber whose husband purchased it at the auction in 1967. Also included are clippings and printed matter concerning the painting and the auction.
