Dartmouth College Interfraternity Council Records

The collection consists of records of the Interfraternity Council at Dartmouth College, Hanover, N.H. from 1927-1982. The collection contains announcements, memorandums, meeting minutes, notes, correspondence, and disciplinary records. The records document activities of the Interfraternity Council, the Interfraternity Judicial Council, the Interfraternity Treasurers’ Council, and individual fraternities. Activities of note documented in this collection are the efforts of the Council to coordinate the fraternity communities’ response to campus activities during World War II; the Council’s efforts to eliminate discriminatory clauses in the constitution of on-campus fraternities; and the Council’s reaction to racial discrimination against pledges.
