Book of Hours
Description
Manuscript book of hours belonging originally to Maria Magdalena, Duchess of Tuscany, made in Florence, Italy. Text in Latin on vellum with three leaves of German prayers on paper appended. Includes 34 hand-painted miniatures, three pen drawings, and two relics. Folio 34 is a pen and ink drawing of the crucifixion, signed Johan Wiericz. Several miniatures have inscriptions on verso from members of the Hapsburg royal family. Bound in red velvet with engraved title medallions of gold wash over silver.
