Description
Letter from Daniel D. Tompkins of Albany, NY (Governor of NY State) to William Eustis (Secretary of War), explaining to him that $50,000 was sent from the War Department to him for expenses of N.H. State Militia has been exhaustes and enclosing a request for an additional $75,000. Discusses responsiblity for paying troops and informing him that the district paymaster for the Militia and quarter-master general of the US have declined to take responsibility. 100,00 men are already in service in NY and some have not been paid. Governor needs additional military staff.
