TOWN CLERK - APPOINTMENTS, OATHS OF OFFICE AND BONDS, 1801 - 1931

Primarily consists of certificates for appointments to office and oaths of office filed with the town clerk. Offices and positions documented in the records include selectmen, fire warden, auditor, liquor agent, clerk, highway surveyor, and treasurer. Certificates are also extant for the offices of hog reeve, who was appointed to control roaming swine; pound keeper; and tythingmen, who were to enforce Sabbath laws.
