Description
The papers of Matt B. Jones contain letters to his parents and a memorandum written by his father, Walter A. Jones. Letters dated March to June 1890 were written prior to his matriculation at Dartmouth College, while he attended St. Johnsbury Academy. Letters written during his time in St. Johnsbury document everyday life at school and activities at the organizations Jones was involved in such as Adelphiu. Letters dated September 1890 to May 1891 and March and June 1894 document Jones’s academic and extracurricular life at Dartmouth. Topics include financial requests to his father; involvement in sports teams; affiliation with a Greek organization, Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity; course works and examinations; friends he made at Dartmouth and occasional visits to St. Johnsbury.
