Description

The papers of Jonathan P. Feltner contain letters home, maps, newsletters, magazines, a photograph and personal records related to Feltner's service during the Vietnam War and his receipt of several medals including a Purple Heart. In his letters, Feltner reflects on the bitterness and anguish he feels about the War, often with brutal honesty. He also describes battles, the difficulty of patrolling in various terrains, comrades lost, being injured, twice, the VC and the Vietnamese in the Villages he and his troops sweep through. In later letters, he talks about his recuperation and redeployment on desk duty in Okinawa, Japan.
