Part of ML-99: Shepard Stone papers

Description

Materials consist of articles, brochures, clippings, correspondence, lists, magazines and newspapers, maps, newsletters, news releases, photographs, pamphlets, programs, speeches and reports. One report in particular, Psychological Reaction of the German People After the Defeat, by Stone's brother-in-law, Walter Hasenclever, is especially interesting. Hasenclever was one of the interrogators who questioned some of the highest ranking Nazi party members, such as Hermann Goering, Joachim von Ribbentrop and Julius Streicher. His report is a first hand account of the thoughts, feelings and experiences of both the interrogator and those he spoke to immediately after the defeat of Germany. Persons of note in this section include Hadley Cantril, Julius Ebbinghaus, Lester Markel, Eugen Rosenstock-Huessy, and William Paley.
